Vegan Inspiration
One of the things that inspired me to try out this "Vegan thing" was reading the book Finding Ultra, by Rich Roll. The funny thing is that I bought this book for my husband, on his 40th birthday, last year, to inspire him and I ended up being the one inspired. Now don't get me wrong, I have zero intention of becoming some world class endurance athlete whatsoever! Although, I found that part of his journey fascinating and inspiring, it was more so his philosophy about food that intrigued me.

Recent Loves...
I know, I know...shame on me! It's been a bit quiet around the old blog as of late, but between fighting a cold that just doesn't want to go away and a slight addiction to Law and Order SVU on Netflix, the blog has taken a back seat. To make up for the neglect, I thought I'd share a couple of current favorites via Pinterest (of course) that I just can't seem to get out of my head.
First up is this bathroom that has provided all sorts of inspiration for the future dream home...

I love almost all of it, but instead of the raised tub, I think I'd like something like this that would open onto a private courtyard...
| {image} |
Yep, I think that would be just about perfect!
Speaking of courtyards...I also wouldn't mind having a courtyard off a living area with a pool that looked something like this...
| {image} |
and last, but not least, I've found myself mildly obsessed with this floor plan. Loving the four courtyards. You guys must check out the actual house. Super awesome!

We actually talked about buying some land in the Texas Hill Country and building something similar, someday. A girl can dream! Maybe I should start playing the Lotto?
Hope this provided a little end of the week inspiration for you guys too!

Lamp Love...
Another item I'll be searching for, while I'm back in the states, are lamps for our living room. We're on a different wattage over here, and I have some adaptors I can use, but really just having them here for aesthetics is enough.
Here are some lamps that are serving as inspiration for my search...
Loving this Regina-Andrew Design "Artifact" Mini Lamp

have always loved coral lamps and especially the bold red of this Regina-Andrew Design
Something with natural horn would work too. Like this Jamie Young Stacked Horn Table Lamp
I've been wanting a turtle shell or two for a while so I'll keep an eye out for something like this "Gold Tortoise" Mini Lamp
This Carved Goddess Lamp would fit in perfectly!
Thinking I'm going to need a bit of luck on my side, to find great deals similar to my inspiration!

Sea Urchin Lighting Love...
My husband had the day off today and since our son is now in Kindergarten, we had a whole day together to do whatever we wanted. So, naturally, we went to look around home stores.
In one of the lighting shops, Beacon Lighting, I spied (what I like to call) Sea Urchin lights.
A while back I did a post, titled, Kitchen Inspiration, for our future Hawaii condo and that kitchen featured "Urchin" pendants.
I like the idea of having two above a kitchen island, like the inspiration photo. However, if not over an island, I'd love to have a couple, Ivory Urchin Light Fixtures, over our dining table...
or check out the ones I featured in Global Cuisine.
Looky, they don't have to be made of wood or natural fibers...they can be bold and brass too!
So, what do you think? They get a big fat yes please, from me!

Moroccan Rugs & an Anniversary...
Just wanted to share these gorgeous vintage Moroccan rugs, from Amadi Carpets, with you today...
loving the traditional Moroccan colorway of cream and brown...
but, this one fits right in with the ombre color trend...
I'd welcome either of these rugs into my home...who am I kidding, I'd welcome both!

I also want to say a big sorry for the lack of posting! June 1st marked the 2nd anniversary of One Girls Style and I can't tell you how much of an outlet it's provided for all my ideas, inspiration and projects. Having said that, I've felt a bit burned out between the blog and pinterest, lately. Typically I post between four and five times per week, but I don't like to force blog posts and prefer to post only when inspiration hits or I have something I'm just dying to share with you all. Hopefully, a fresh well of inspiration and energy will bubble to the surface soon...fingers and toes crossed! Maybe unplugging from the matrix for a while will help. Recently, I refinished our natural edge coffee table (I know...finally. Photos to come) and have a few more projects in the works. So, more stuff coming soon...promise.

Kitchen Inspiration...
Lately, my husband and I have been talking about our future Hawaii condo quite often...things like location, minimum square feet, views, outdoor living space, school districts, parking spaces, age of the building, price point (you know all the important, practical stuff) and then, as always, I steer the conversation into designing the interior space. We agree that, ideally, we'd like an older building 1950-1970's era with a great view (mountains or water or both!), a large lanai is more important than a large living area, since the weather is beautiful, year round. But most importantly, we do not want the space to have been previously renovated. Of course, this helps in keeping the price lower and we're not paying more money for someone else's reno and taste that we'd rip out and replace anyway.
Having said all that, the realreason inspiration behind this post was an image of a kitchen I spotted on Pinterest (of course!). It's a great kitchen from Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles. A few of the high points for me are the sea urchin looking pendants (love), the big bowl with the palm on the counter, the collection of Asian hats and the color of the cabinets.
While my husband and I were at Ikea this past weekend (we mainly go because our son loves the play room and we get to drop him off for an hour!) I showed my husband the cabinets I've been thinking about for our future kitchen. The color is Sofielund Light Grey. I told him that I'm leaning towards this color, because it remind me of driftwood, which pretty much sold him on the idea.
Having said all that, the real

You're probably thinking that this seems like a lot of effort and time to put into a hypothetical condo, but I believe that the more you talk about something and visualize it and just put it out into the universe, the more likely it is to happen. Also, I'm kind of obsessive and like to plan for things way in advance and make lists. In reality, it's most likely going to happen within a year and a half to two years. We're talking about buying it about six months to a year before moving into it. If it's a year we'd rent it out and if it's six months or less, we'll start renovating it from here or at least start buying for it. Anyways, what a great kitchen to kick start some inspiration!

Dining & Director's Chairs...
I've always been fond of using director's chairs in home decor and actually have a vintage set of my own, which are bar height, that I bought 10 years ago at a flea market in Texas....
Lately, I've seen a lot of chic dining spaces, with the director's chair as the chair of choice and have been very inspired...

and this room by Australian designer Sarah Davison is almost spot on with my personal style!...Love it! If you want to check out Sarah's portfolio, and I highly recommend you do, you can find it here. I'm in love with the Palm Beach House she designed.

Inspiration...Art & Textile Design
While searching Pinterest (it's a slight addiction), I stumbled upon the work of a great and very inspirational artist and textile designer, Luli Sanchez. I was so taken with her talent, I couldn't help but share my discovery. No doubt, many of you are already more than familiar with her work, but for those of you (like myself) who are not, you're in for a treat!
Here are a few of my favorites, but honestly everything is fabulous!
