Tile Love...

I have a slight major obsession with tile! One day, I'll be known as that crazy lady who has a courtyard style beach house, which upon entering is covered floor to ceiling in every amazing tile ever made!  Only kidding...slightly!

Here is a sampling from Exquisite Surfaces that have captured my heart...

Rammed Earth...

My husband and I have been obsessed about the idea of building a rammed earth home for years!  We love the aesthetic and environmental appeal of this style of building.

love the gradation of colors and the thickness of the walls and how this style of building provides instant "age" to your new home...

here are some examples of how we envision our future rammed earth abode...

This home (below) is my favorite color wise and also incorporates other desired design elements, such as an antique clay tile roof and exterior shutters, but we're thinking more of a courtyard layout and one story.  However, lately, I've been drawn to a French farmhouse style (as a one story courtyard) more so than a tropical, Italian or Spanish influence.  Although, I'm always drawn to a Balinese style courtyard home...hhmm

also intrigued with the idea of having a separate rammed earth structure on our property that would possibly be used as a combination guest house/studio with a planted concrete roof like the one below, but in the same architectural style as the main house...

This is most definitely something I see happening in our future (way in the future), but we both agree that it will be on a much smaller scale, but with all the character, design, architectural details and appeal of these much larger homes.

Once again, I want to point out that these are all examples of new homes using the centuries old rammed earth construction method (even though they appear old).

Kitchen Crush

As my 3 year old would say, this is one "awesome and super cool" kitchen!
Suzie: Tracery Interiors gothic kitchen design with black kitchen cabinets, butcher block ...
The custom shape of the stove surround is genius and the herringbone pattern of the tile backsplash is the icing on that cake! The huge wood island is another favorite element and did I ever mention how much I love clear doors on a fridge!

There is really nothing I dislike about this kitchen....major crushing on the huge antique replica stove, the rivits around the cutout stove surround (I believe the material is metal), the flooring, the cabinetry surrounding the apron sink, and of course the focal point of the entire kitchen the glass ceiling! Yes, I would love to pick up this entire kitchen and plop it right into my dream home!

Interior Inspiration

Was looking around for a little inspiration and came across this room!

Love the modern upholstery and the lucite coffee table with the classic sofa.

Design Crushes

Some awesomely designed spaces I'm crushing on!!!

This foyer is wonderful. So many elements to LOVE...the clam shell, bamboo chairs, collection of white porcelain, the more is more concept and the symmetry of the whole look!!!

I love the exotic and well traveled feel of this "hearth room"! From the zig zag rug to the Moroccan table and the collection of small African stools, lined up along the mantel, it is perfection.

This is nothing short of Porch Perfection!! I love everything about this porch. The bamboo sofa, the fabric choice, the pops of yellow and all of the detail and charm!

Typically my personal style tends to be a bit masculin and my husband would probably be a bit shocked to read this, but I really, really, really adore this bright pink room! From the historic bones mixed with such a nontraditional color pallet and fabric selections, a casual sisal rug and exotic touches...it was destined to be love at first site!
