Our Thanksgiving Table...

Since it was just the three of us this year, I didn't want to go overboard...

so I used only things we already owned and some flowers from the local grocery store....

so excited to use my Blue Willow dishes for the first time...

I didn't want it to feel like a fall harvest, since it is spring here, but I still wanted it to feel like Thanksgiving...

the mix included some of my vintage milk glass, blue willow, various blue and white serving pieces, a little tortoise glass and a colorful table cloth from India...

the food was great and the small turkey turned out really well and was super moist...

it was a really nice Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Table...

Tomorrow is Thursday here in Australia, so we will be having our American Thanksgiving a day ahead of all of you back in the states.  Our plans kept shifting so much, that we just gave-up, and decided to have an intimate family Thanksgiving with just the three of us.  Nevertheless, I'm going to set a lovely table and prepare a nice smallish, traditionalish meal.  Of course, I had to hit-up Pinterest for a little table inspiration...

I'm so excited to use my new Blue Willow dishes for the first time!  Hopefully, I'll have a post up tomorrow with photos of the table and the yummy food.  Not quite sure what I'll be making just yet.  I'm heading over to the grocery store this afternoon (don't have to worry about holiday shoppers...could even shop on Thanksgiving morning!).  I know they won't have whole turkeys, so I'll look for just a breast and if I can't find one then a nice small ham will do for the three of us.  I'll post our menu and photos tomorrow.  Happy Thanksgiving!

1GS Inspiration Board: November 2011

Putting together a November inspiration board has been quite the challenge, to say the least.  Being inspired by all the images of a traditional American Thanksgiving and everything that goes with it...fall colors, fall wardrobe, fall decor, fall food...etc, but living in Australia and celebrating all that spring has to offer here has caused an internal tug of war.  However, November (for us Americans) is a month to give thanks and that is really what inspired me the most, so while I am thankful for being able to live in this new, exotic, beautiful country and enjoy this gorgeous spring weather and our beautiful new house, I am also thankful for being an American and would never dream of glossing over our Thanksgiving Holiday!  So, my inspiration is an American Thanksgiving, beautiful spring blooms, yummy food and the opportunity to make a wish...
