Elements...

This interior via House Beautiful has many of the elements, I've been going on and on about, that I want to see in our Hawaii condo.  There's the wall-to-wall seagrass, the huge Ancestor painting, and blue and white ikat...

Hawaii Condo: Master Bedroom

Yes, I'm still at it...creating design boards for a condo that does not yet exist.  I can't help myself and when I saw a photo of a great bohemian style bedroom, the gears started turning and it was just the jumping off point I needed to get the master bedroom concept started.

So here is the photo I used as inspiration...

and this is what I came up with...

who knows what I'll end up doing, once the condo is a reality, but I'm sure it will be something in this direction.  I thought we'd keep our original bed, which has a wingback style headboard, but is upholstered in a brown suede.  I'd like to have a white canvas slipcover made to lighten it up and how cute would it be with a large monogram.  Painting our dresser and mirror in white lacquer is another option and changing out the knobs to leather pulls.  Of course, we would hang our existing mask collection (different than the ones pictured).  New side tables, lighting and a chair are much needed and I love the white and yellow linen window treatments.  As far as the walls go, I want to keep everything white, but bring in texture and architectural interest by adding either a split bamboo treatment or just wood slats spaced 6 inches apart vertically.

Just some ideas for now, but it's definitely feeling like us and I think it would look great in a Hawaii condo!

Seagrass Wall-to-Wall...

The plan, for now, is to install wall to wall seagrass carpet in our future Hawaii condo.  I always thought I'd want wood flooring throughout with seagrass area rugs, but once you layer rugs on top of the wood, not much of the wood actually shows and you're spending extra money on rugs to cover up the expensive wood you just installed!  I'm not at all saying that I would never install wood flooring (wood is gorgeous), but for this project I'm really leaning towards seagrass.  Plus, while I'm not a fan of wall to wall carpet (nylon, wool), I am a huge fan of wall to wall sisal, jute and seagrass...

I can't tell you how much I like the look of using a natural fiber rug wall to wall.  It just looks so clean and it's nice and flat.  So tell me, would you put wall to wall seagrass into your Hawaiian condo or into any room of your home?
