Staghorn Ferns...

Whenever I see a staghorn fern (platycerium), it instantly floods my mind with memories of my Granny.  She loved them and had a huge one that hung from a tree in her yard.  Every time I was at her house, it seemed she was tending to it...tossing in a banana peel or various other things.  Lately, I've been seeing them everywhere and am considering getting a couple for our house.  Do any of you have one?  I've been collecting some staghorn inspiration and thought I'd share it with you all today...

{this one reminds me of my Granny's!  It's hanging in a tree in a yard in Florida, just as hers did!  Image found here}

Hammock Love...

As you all know, I've been collecting images of amazing outdoor spaces on Pinterest and the other day I noticed that many of them have a recurring theme...the hammock!  I guess I'm a bit obsessed with them...but, really, aren't we all!

This woven bamboo hammock would be an interesting one to try, it's definitely beautiful!  I'm picturing a large grove of coconut palms on our future property, with several of these bamboo hammocks hanging throughout, for our friends and family to relax in....sounds perfect!

of course, having a beautiful, peaceful or exotic place to hang one, only adds to their appeal!

Outdoor Living...

When I go out onto my front porch to water the flowers in my hanging baskets, I'm disappointed in it's decor.  It's quite sad, actually.  The porch is very long (the width of the house), but narrow.  I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but right now we have our vintage mid-century sofa, two of our wood slatted folding chairs from Honduras and the mid-century chair I recovered in Hawaii as the seating arrangement.  Very Sanford and Son!
This crazy mix of indoor and outdoor furnishings could possibly work if I could fit the sofa against the side "wall" of the porch, but I don't think it's wide enough?  You know, I love an eclectic mix and shy away from furniture "collections", but when I see a pristine outdoor set that's all matching and lovely at the store, I'm not going to lie and tell you I'm not tempted.  I could just walk in and buy it and ta-da, finished porch!
To shake these thoughts, I thought I'd indulge in a little eclectic outdoor living inspiration I've been collecting hording!...

I just need to go out and play around with what I already have and get a good idea of the things I still really need and try to make our space, even a little bit, as inviting as these awesome spaces!
