A year and a half ago my husband and I decided that we wanted to move back to Hawaii. Simple as that...yeah right! After much agonizing over the decision and a bunch of hard choices we felt that it was time for a change, some adventure and we wanted to teach our new little boy that without taking risks and leaps of faith life will never be as interesting and fulfilling as it could be. As it turned out, finding a job (for my husband) in Hawaii was the easy part...moving ourselves here and leaving our current security for the unknown (kind of unknown, since we lived in Hawaii 4 years prior) was the hard part. But, you know what has been one of the hardest things (besides leaving behind family)...leaving behind all our stuff!!! We packed all our belongings, except some of our clothes, our sons bed and toys, into a storage unit and left it all behind. Although it has been a year and a half, we have no intentions of moving our stuff here...at least not in the foreseeable future, since we don't know how long we will want to stay here. We both wouldn't mind living abroad again and are always thinking up new paths to take, but I know one thing for sure...whatever and wherever that new path leads us I want to take all our treasures along, for sure!!!
Since I did sell some of our things (like our new 1 year old sofa and chair), because they just wouldn't fit in the storage unit and I knew I wasn't in love with them, I'll have to replace them when we get our things back. I did buy a sofa for our place here in Hawaii, but even if it does come along with us on our next adventure it probably won't go in our living room. However, it would look good in our bedroom or in a study...if our bedroom is big enough and we were to have a study??? It was a Craigslist find, vintage, mid century, clean lines, toddler proof and perfect for now. In this, hypothetical, future move, what I would love to buy for our living room sofa is an....
Indonesian Daybed
...or perhaps
this one...

These are just a couple I found online, but one of my favorite stores here in Hawaii carries a large selection of antique Indonesian daybeds (don't have any on their website...sigh)so I know I won't have a problem finding the perfect one, when the time comes. I know they don't look comfy as is, but picture them with a thick foam cushion slip covered in perhaps white denim with huge bolsters on either end and many large throw pillows to relax against, covered in amazing yummy textiles, like these from
