With my new found energy, I've been super motivated to work out. At least five days per week I go for about a four mile jog/walk. I'm not a natural runner, so I've been slowly building up and my goal is to be able to jog the entire time. Right now it's about 50/50, I jog about a mile, then walk, then jog...you get the picture.
I also just finished up a 100 squats a day for 30 days challenge I noticed floating around the web. At first I had to break it down into sets of 10, then 25 and so on until I was able to build the strength up in my knees to do all 100 at once. I actually enjoyed that and think I'll begin another 30 day round.
My tummy and upper body have always been my problem areas, my bottom and legs have never been an issue, so I'm working on adding more abs into my routine. I must try to remember to do a few sets of plank exercises each day. Also a few sets of girly push-ups.
This may sound crazy, but I've only ever done Yoga once in my life. I tagged along to one of those Bikram (hot yoga) classes with one of my Aunts, like seven or eight years ago. At the time I didn't enjoy it much, partly because I had no idea what I was doing and everyone else did and partly due to it being summer in Florida with the temps in the high 90's with 100% humidity and me wondering what the freak I was doing in a Bikram class! Having said all that, I'm seriously thinking about taking up yoga. I'm older now and have much more patience (I think). Plus, I'm losing flexibility and would like to regain that. Of course, if this is something I'm going to get into, then I need to gear up.
This yoga mat has been on my
Fitness Motivation Board forever, because, well, it's super awesome...
This bag is pretty Yogi Chic too...
And if I can get to a point where I look like this, while practicing yoga...that would make it all worth it!
Once I become a little advanced, maybe I could even talk the hubby into a little couples yoga? I'm sure we'd look just like this...NOT!
Another fitness motivator and something I've been wanting to try since moving back to Hawaii in 2008, has been paddleboarding. We have some bodies of water (lakes and rivers) close to us that seem the perfect spots for taking up this sport.
My dream paddleboard would be this beauty. But sadly, at its crazy price point, it will remain a dream and I'll be getting a practical and affordable foam one, probably from Costco.
Well, look here, I can even combine the two...Paddleboard Yoga!
Look Out! Hippie, Yogi, Vegan...here I come! Maybe I need to start meditating too?
