Grant's New Room - Design Board

I had been planning to do a Hawaiian Surfer room for our son and have collected a few items (vintage metal "beach" cars, surfboard sheets, made a little quilt, and a plaque), but my husband convinced me to keep his room more classic and to stay with the look we started with in his nursery (Hemingway, world traveler).

We both agree, however, that we need to freshen things up. We are hoping to move into a bigger place by February, so now is a great time to start pulling things together so his room will look super cool as soon as we're in the new place.

Fabrics-classic blue and white ticking (to be made into simple, removable, slip covers for the headboard and footboard), ethnic paisley(made into pillows), asian toile(made into pillows), kilim style fabric (used to reupholster the bench)
Furniture- mission style full bed (existing, similar to this one), vintage painted chest of drawers with bin pulls (something like this), child size club chair (existing-his is from Target with blue and white ticking), vintage danish modern bench (find one like this at thrift store reupholster it in the kilim fabric), voyager steamer cube (nightstand), black book shelf, wall shelves
Accessories & Toys- vintage 1930's train blueprint, french exposition art, chalkboard easel, trike and trailer, mission swing arm lamp, guitar, masks, baskets, chevron area rug

Grant's Hawaiian Quilt Made by Me

I made this Hawaiian fabrics patchwork quilt for my son Grant. I had originally made all of the bedding and curtains for his nursery in a world traveler, Hemingway type of feel, but I've decided to transition into a Hawaii surfer/traveler vibe. So far he has his quilt, "Surfer Dude" throw pillows, surfboard sheet set and a reproduction VW Bus, VW Bug w/surfboard rack and boards, and another yellow VW bug. I'll start posting photos of his cute stuff and of items I'd love to add. But first here's the quilt.
This is the front...

and this is the back...I decided not to make both sides patchwork after I found this really soft great print!

He sleeps with it every night and likes to show people what his Mommy made him.
