How chic is this Drake sconce by Ro Sham Beaux!
while I was admiring it's chicness, I couldn't help but think how simple it would be to copy cat for less.
Of course, it's not going to have that same substantial quality and style of the original, but it will cost about ten times less, for those of us on a style budget. So maybe we should say that it's more of a lighting inspiration...
So here's the idea:
Purchase an inexpensive sconce, like this one, from Home Depot with the same general shape that will allow you to wrap it in hemp string...
pick up some hemp string...
I'd touch up the silver screws with a bit of antique gold paint and if you want to get a bit crazy you could take a bunch of inexpensive hammered brass discs and string them along the bottom to make a little fringe and bring in some of the cool gold from the inspiration light or just leave it all hemped out...
seems simple enough...wonder how it would turn out? If anyone has similar lighting in their house that needs a facelift you should try it out and send over some pics! If you're wondering the inspiration sconce is $458...our "look for less" option (I say that very loosely!) runs around $60 for the sconce and materials. If you already have similar sconces, you could bring this makeover in for around $10.
