Luna Park and a Birthday

This week our little guy turned six.  It's crazy, but I can already tell he's become a little more mature.  The day before his birthday, he asked why he never gets to have a real birthday party.  It's true, when he turned one we had a party for him (Keiki's First Luau), but for his second we took him to Sea Life Park Hawaii, his third to the Discovery Museum in Honolulu, his fourth to the Sydney Aquarium and his fifth to the Sydney Taronga Zoo.  I know, I know, poor neglected child!  But, all kidding aside, he is at an age where he has developed real friendships, so when he asked for a party the day before his birthday I instantly messaged a couple of his friends Moms and was able to throw together a quick party after school the following day.

To make his birthday morning extra special we sealed up his bedroom doorway with crepe paper and balloons, while he slept.  That was a big hit when he awoke the next morning!  Please excuse the messy crepe paper edges, obviously I put my husband in charge of handing me the strips to tape and he kept ripping them off the roll, instead of cutting.  Plus, we did it super fast and quietly so we wouldn't wake him and ruin the surprise.

Here's a picture of the cool Spiderman cake I was able to find the day of his party...Hot wheels would have been the best, but Spidey worked in a pinch.

and here's the birthday boy (still in his school uniform) making his birthday wish...

the party was a huge success and he was beyond surprised and thrilled.  He got tons of hot wheels stuff, a couple ninja turtles and an 8ft. trampoline from Daddy.

Although we threw the last minute birthday bash, we still wanted to stick with our original birthday plans, so today (the Saturday after his birthday) we took him into Sydney to Luna Park.  Luna Park is a Coney Island boardwalk themed amusement park.  It sets right on the Harbor next to the Harbor Bridge and across from Circular Quay and the Sydney Opera House.  We parked our car outside the city at a Wharf and took the river cat to Circular Quay, walked around for a bit and then took a ferry from there to Luna Park.

and this is the end of three days of birthday fun!  Can't wait to see what next year brings...Grandma and Papa should be visiting, so we may hop over to Fiji for a couple days to celebrate his birthday?
