Katina's Kitchen & Bath Projects...

She's up to it again.  Remember the post about my cousin Katina's bathroom mirror DIY project with that awesome bamboo glass tile?  If not, take a look after you read about her most recent DIY accomplishments.

First up, check out the beadboard and trim she installed around the sides and back of her kitchen island.
Yep, she did that all herself and don't you just love the teal paint color!  I think the color compliments her granite countertops and the ikat fabric we covered her barstools in nicely.

here's a peek at the design board from her kitchen update we did a couple years back....
we added the ikea island, the rug, recovered the barstools, found the antique desk to use as a breakfast table and paired it with the acrylic chairs, the pottery barn curtains and rod, and our Granny's china cabinet.
Two pendants will be going in above her island (to be installed where the existing recessed lights are) and bamboo roman shades on the two windows.

The lighting choices are:
{she sent me a link to this one}
{Hampton Bay Driftwood Chandelier}
{she also mentioned a lantern without glass...I'm guessing something like this}

{I sent her a couple links..one that comes with a conversion kit for recessed lighting and one that has a brass finish}

{Globe Bronze Pendant}
{Nautical 5-Light Chandelier}
and finally, last, but certainly not least, her latest bathroom project...she clad her tub skirting in wood laminate.  A wood porcelain tile was considered, but with the weight of the tile, she didn't know if her DIY skill level was up for the job.

Well, I don't know about you, but I think the wood turned out just fine.  Also, note the tiled mirror and another thing I haven't mentioned before, a matching bamboo glass tile border was added above the tub.  Next up are new faucets and a new light fixture.

There you have it...impressive isn't it!  I can't wait to see it in person, when I'm in Miami next month.  Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that I'll be back in the states, visiting family and friends, for the entire month of March.  Can't wait...fun times and fun posts await!
